How did you decide on construction as a career?
I am one of 7 children and we always seemed to be adding on to our small Cape style house to make it bigger. Seeing all the changes made an early impression on me, although I didn’t realize it at the time. I decided to go into Civil Engineering because I loved Physics & Calculus in High School. When I graduated from college, I interviewed with General Contractors because I wanted to build things and not just design them.
What do you like the most about this industry/your job?
I love that we take what’s shown on paper and build it, make it real. Best thing about the industry is wearing jeans to work and playing in dirt! I like the challenge of estimating a project that is in the conceptual stage. I build it in my head in order to estimate the cost.
What are your hobbies/interests?
My 3 boys! (4 if you include my husband J ), skiing, rollerblading, biking, day trips to Martha’s Vineyard, building sand castles at the beach and within the past couple years I’ve started scrapbooking to create a memory book for each of my children.
